Variable Attenuator:
A variable attenuator is a device that allows for adjustable reduction of signal power in a fiber optic link, offering flexibility to fine-tune signal strength according to changing network requirements or varying optical power levels.
- Return Loss: > 50 dB (PC), > 55 dB (UPC), > 60 dB (APC)
- Attenuation Range: 2 to 80 dB, with 0.01dB resolution up to 10dB
- Fiber Type: Single-mode (9/125 micron), Multimode (62.5/125 micron)

- Power Handling: Up to 2Watts CW
- Temperature Range: -35°C to +70°C (less than 0.3dB change in insertion loss)
- Humidity Range: ±0.2dB change in 10% to 90% humidity range
- Water Immersion Test: ±0.1dB over 7 days submerged to a depth of 15cm in water at room temperature.
Both Types of attenuators can come in different types of connectors. Below are the most commonly used connectors for the attenuators
- FC Attenuator: Utilized with FC connectors, it lowers signal power as needed.
- SC Attenuator: Compatible with SC connectors, it adjusts signal strength for accurate transmission.
- LC Attenuator: Works with LC connectors, fine-tuning signal levels for effective communication.
